We began The Cumberland and Westmorland Sausage Company in May 2004. Tom Archer began planning his “Gourmet Grill” in January 2006. So, the real question might be, did Tom Archer copy us?
“The Archers” uses researchers to keep it in touch with the world of farming. Perhaps there is a researcher here in Cumbria?
If you drive to the South of Kendal, you’ll see signs to the Lakeland Maize Maze . This enterprise is very similar to that set up by Adam Macy, and again, the local attraction just preceded the similar offering from The Archers.

But just one thing. Tom encountered some pretty mean characters in the mobile catering business. We’ve yet to meet any villainous behaviour of this kind, although we are careful about treading on other operators toes!
